Het viel me vandaag weer eens op hoe vaak ik een hele oude tekst van mijn hand tegenkom op het internet.

Deze tekst is minstens 13 jaar oud en zwerft al jaren op verschillende plekken op het internet rond, op zich erg grappig. En tegelijkertijd een goed voorbeeld hoe copyrights geschonden worden

Hieronder de tekst (in het engels), vol met spelfouten en andere ongein.

Some facts about the Leaning Tower of Pisa

The Tower of Pisa was built to show the rest of the world the wealth of the city of Pisa. The people of Pisa were very good sailors and they conquered many lands, including Jerusalem, Carthago, Ibiza, Mallorca, Africa, Belgium, Britania, Norway, Spain, Morocco, and other places. But they had only one real enemy, the people from Florence. And to show how well they were doing they started to build a really useless belltower to go with the rest of the buildings near it - the Cathedral, Baptistery, and Cemetery.

Yes people the Tower of Pisa is nothing more than a bell tower, but because my last name is Pisa I find it a very interesting tower.

They started to build the tower in the year 1173 that means the foot of the tower. After a while the war with Florence started again and they stopped. In 1180 the restarted and in 1185 they had finished the 1st., 2nd., and the 3rd. floor. And again war with Florence, which of course meant that they put all their money in warfare. In this year the tower started to lean to one side, so while they were building, it was already the leaning tower of Pisa. They must have been thinking that a bell tower without bell wasn’t a bell tower so the put some bells on the top of the 3rd. floor in 1198.

After a another war with guess who…… Florence, they started again for a period of nine years, from 1275 till 1284. But they didn’t have any reason to show off anymore since they had lost a big sea battle in 1284 against the fleet of Genoa. This was because they were betrayed by their own count. Count Ugolino della Gherardesca was locked up with his whole family in the tower of Gualandi.

The people of Pisa threw the key in the Arno River and the count and his family died of starvation. In 1319 they finished all the floors. And finally they put the bell tower on top of it in 1350. In 1392 Pisa was sold to Florence, a big humiliation for the people of Pisa.

The started a rebellion but in 1406 they had to surrender because they were under siege and everybody was dying of starvation. In 1499 they started another war against Florence who were using the people of Pisa as slaves. And again the brave but unfortuned army of Pisa lost and that is the and of the history of Pisa.

They never managed to gain the wealth as in the early years, and now it is a small city somewhere in Italy and they are still showing off with their tower………..

Jesses, wat is dat toch gvd moeilijk om te stoppen, kortom het is nog niet gelukt. Komend weekend een tweede poging. Joan en ik hebben besloten om het dit weekend opnieuw te proberen. Dus niet weer een paar maanden wachten maar gewoon meteen weer.

En dan natuurlijk de eeuwige hamvraag; waarom weer begonnen? Ik zou het eerlijk niet weten. het begint er bij een paar per dag en die paar worden er vanzelf weer een heleboel. Vroeger wel eens geprobeerd met nicotine pleisters maar dat was tevens geen suc6. Accupunctuur en laseren daar geloof ik niet in omdat ik meerdere malen op het internet heb gelezen dat dit werkt als een palcebo en dat gaat voor mij nu dus niet meer op.

Dan maar eens proberen met nicotine kauwgom, lijkt op dit moment wel een aardige keuze. Je krijgt nicotine binnen en je hebt wat om handen (in je mond). Binnenkort maar een pakje halen, ze schijnen ze nu te verkopen in verschillende smaken dus dat met het een of ander een stuk aantrekkelijker……..

Afgelopen weekend een start gemaakt met de zoveelste poging om van het roken af te komen. Vraag me niet hoe vaak ik het al geprobeerd heb, ben de tel kwijt. en ik moet zeggen dat het me minder zwaar valt als de voorgaande keren. Wel belangrijk om te melden dat ik niet helemaal ‘cold turkey’ probeer te stoppen. Om te beginnen kon ik de laatste voorraad nicotinepleisters niet meer vinden dus sloeg de paniek wel even toe. Dit resulteerde in toch nog hier en daar een sigaretje. Kortom ik heb mijn rook frequentie nu terug gebracht naar maximaal 4 sigaretten per dag, en dat is voor mij en gigantische overwinning daar ik er +/- 25 per dag rookte.

Het plan is om dit een tijdje vol te houden en dan uiteindelijk helemaal te stoppen. Aller belangrijkste is dat het me lukt om thuis niet meer te roken. En dat wordt uitermate spannend als ik kijk naar het komende weekend. Dan ben ik dus drie dagen op rij thuis (pinkster weekend).

Het toeval wil dat eergisteren er een aflevering van Brainiac werd uitgezonden op Discovery waarin ze lieten zien dat je door iemand het idee te geven dat hij door een accupuntuur specialist geholpen werd van het roken af kon helpen. Het proefpersoon werd geprikt met behulp van een passer en een geo-driehoek. Voor mij was dit de bevestiging dat accupunctuur en laserbehandelingen gebasseerd zijn op het placebo-effect. En dat zal voor mij dus niet werken. Ik ga het maar gewoon op de oude manier proberen en dat is ‘gewoon’ niet meer roken….

My dad had an operation today, and everything went okay. So good news today. Just a few days to recover and they let him go home again.

Till now he had a lot of bad luck, diabetic, loosing sight, lost a leg, lost a few toes on the other foot, so lets hope this was the last thing.

 Update: Dad’s back home, and all is well, little bit of pain, but he will survive.

Today I got the results for my Prince 2 Practitioner exam, and I passed. So now I’m Prince 2 certified (foundation and practitioner), all I need now is a costumer who uses Prince 2 (duh?)

After 4 days of spare time in a row I’m a back at work. For those who
don’t know, I work at the moment at the flower auction in Holland
